What Is Dragon Boat Festival?
The Dragon Boat Festival takes place on the 5th day of the 5th Lunar Month. On this day, people eat rice dumplings (zongzi) and race dragon boat. All of these activities were are known to stop sickness from happening.
The History Of The Dragon Boat Festival
A legend tells the story of Qu Yuan, an old man that drowns himself by jumping from a boat, because he didnt want to see his country being destroyed by the poor leaders. When the village people went to look for him, it was too late. They threw rice wrapped in leaves, shaped like a pyramid, into the water to calm the man’s spirit. Today, people eat these rice dumplings, known as zongzi in memory of the old man.

Dragon Boat Races are very noisy and exciting events with hundreds of teams racing awith each other in this great tradition.
Chinese Dragon Boats are long, narrow boats with a dragon's head at one end and a tail at the end.
